The short answer
In the Scenic Rim, 92.1% of occupied homes are separate houses, many on acreage, and the setting does a lot of the work: Tamborine Mountain sits in rainforest and frequent cloud, while the valley towns get cold, still winter mornings. Mould here is often about a whole property — the house, the studio, the shed and the cabin — not a single bathroom.

Tamborine Mountain: rainforest humidity
Homes on the plateau are surrounded by forest that keeps the air moist and shaded. Roofs collect leaf litter, gutters block, and walls that rarely see direct sun stay damp. Inside, cold rooms on the shaded side grow mould on ceilings and furniture, and timber floors over enclosed subfloors can take on a musty smell.
Outdoor spore levels in a rainforest setting can be naturally high, so an indoor air result there needs to be read against an outdoor sample taken at the same time. A room that is higher than outside, or carries different spore types, is the one to investigate.
Cabins, studios and farm stays
Short-stay cabins, studios and converted sheds are often lightly built, unlined or lined straight onto the frame, and left closed between bookings. Condensation on cold metal roofs and walls on winter nights drips back onto linings and bedding. Each building used for sleeping should be named in the scope and checked separately.
Valley towns and older houses
Boonah, Kalbar and Harrisville have older timber homes and some Federation-era buildings. Common findings are damp from overflowing gutters and downpipes discharging against stumps, and bathrooms added in the past without waterproofing. Cold, still winter mornings in the valleys also add condensation on single-glazed windows and external walls.

Local questions
Why do my Tamborine Mountain cupboards keep going mouldy?
Shaded, humid conditions keep cupboards on external walls cool and damp. Checking for leaks first, then improving airflow behind and inside the cupboards, usually helps. Readings show which applies.
Can you inspect sheds and cabins on an acreage property?
Yes. Every building that is lived in, slept in or used to store belongings can be included. List them when booking so the job is scoped properly.
