About
About Mould Testing QLD
A Brisbane-based business that inspects Queensland buildings for mould and moisture, and reports what it finds plainly.
In short
Mould Testing QLD inspects homes, rentals and workplaces for mould and the moisture behind it, using moisture meters, thermal imaging, and air and surface samples analysed by a laboratory. It does not carry out mould removal, drying or repairs, so its findings are independent of whoever does.
How inspections are done
- Moisture first. Every inspection maps where the building is wet and why — leak, condensation, rising or penetrating damp — before deciding whether samples are needed.
- Controlled sampling. Air samples are always paired with an outdoor control taken at the same time. Surface samples are logged against a location plan.
- Laboratory analysis. Samples travel under chain of custody; laboratory certificates are attached to reports unaltered.
- Recognised references. Findings are framed against the WHO guidelines on dampness and mould, the Australian Building Codes Board’s condensation handbook and, for post-works clearance, the ANSI/IICRC S520 standard many contractors work to.
Why testing only
When the same business tests, quotes the works, does them and then clears them, every result carries a question. Keeping inspection separate removes it. If a property needs work, the owner chooses the contractor, and any clearance check stays independent.
An unregulated field — so here is what you get
There is no Australian standard or accreditation scheme specifically for mould testers. A 2018 federal parliamentary inquiry recommended one, and the Government’s response said developing industry standards is a matter for industry and relevant regulators. Until that changes, the fair thing is to be clear about method: every report states the instruments used, the sampling conditions, the laboratory, and the limits of what was tested.
